The Axon Phone is actually made by ZTE

Yesterday, a whole host of bloggers and journalists received press release and invites to an event regarding a new device called the Axon Phone. With a device and manufacturer that hadn’t been heard of, no one was sure of what to expect. But Sascha Segan from PC Mag did some exploring and found that the Axon Phone is actually part of a large marketing scheme from ZTE that’s designed to introduce a high-end ZTE device into the US.

While there aren’t a whole lot of details regarding the Axon Phone, we do know that it will have a dual camera set-up that allows for refocusing pictures after you take them, Hi-Fi audio, 4GB of RAM and a custom UI. The UI borrows some elements from ZTE’s Nubia UI, but is significantly different as a whole, placing an emphasis on simple text and Gaussian blur over images. In terms of external design, it features dual front-facing speakers, a ‘metallic’ body and three color options of blue, gold and silver.

The Axon Phone event is being held on July 14, where we’ll be gifted with more information about the device. In the meantime, you can check out the site by following the source link, where you can enter to win an Axon Phone and $10,000.
