Motorola’s second generation Moto 360 could be one step closer to release

Motorola’s round Android Wear powered smartwatch, the Moto 360, became the smartwatch to beat last year, flat tire and all. Anyone with any interest in wearables in looking to Motorola again this year to see where the company takes the second generation Moto 360. If speculation pans out then we might just get to see what Motorola has planned for the second gen Moto 360 sooner rather than later.

A Motorola device bearing the model number BTMW03 was recently assessed by the official Bluetooth Special Interest Group to make sure the Bluetooth portion of the device is ready for primetime. Under the design description for the device, we see the BTMW03 is a “Motorola Android Device.” This coupled with the fact that the original Moto 360 is the BTMW01 leads us to believe the device that just passed Bluetooth certification is the second generation Moto 360.

While we might not see the second generation Moto 360 go on sale for some time now, we wouldn’t be surprised if Motorola used Google I/O as the official unveiling grounds for the smartwatch. With Google I/O right around the corner, we’ll be on the lookout for any whispers or leaks on the second generation Moto 360, as they just might start popping up any day now.
