Flagship phones are intended to set the standard for smartphones each year, so they need to meet a certain level of performance to compete. To account for that, most manufacturers use the best chipset available to give the best performance possible. Testing benchmarks is an easy way to look at the raw power of a device, so let’s get started.
|Geekbench 3||997 (single-thread) 3244 (multi-thread)|
|3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited||20,121|
As you can see, the HTC One M9 performs quite admirably in benchmarks, particularly in Antutu. Being equipped with a 2GHz 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB of RAM, we were expecting high-quality performance and we received it. If you’re looking for a device that benchmarks well, the HTC One M9 should be perfect for you.
It’s important to take benchmarks with a grain of salt, as manufacturers can optimize devices for them. Benchmark performance rarely translates clearly into everyday usage, so if your device seems like it should have scored higher on benchmarks, don’t sweat it. If it runs well, that’s what counts.
In the day-to-day, you won’t run into any problems with the performance of the HTC One M9. It’s flown through every task I’ve thrown at it and hasn’t stuttered for a second. If there’s one thing the One M9 is great it, it’s blazing through a multitude of activities without skipping a beat.
The device does have a tendency to warm up during use, but it hasn’t become a problem and certainly hasn’t resulted in anything like overheating. Just bear that fact in mind or you may be slightly disconcerted by the heat of the device during high intensity tasks.
This is the easy part, since the HTC One M9 hits it out of the park with performance, both in benchmarks and real world performance. While we haven’t compared it side by side with the other new flagships, we feel confident in saying that the HTC One M9 is one of the best-performing phones on the market.
If you’re looking for a phone with great performance, the HTC One M9 is the device for you.
